Technical analyses and opinions
BOSMAL performs, to order, activities relating to the release into circulation of parts/assemblies/vehicle accessories required in light of the applicable provisions on the system for assessment of conformity and general product safety.
We offer services in the following areas:
- Analysis of New Approach directives and related norms harmonised in terms of CE marking of products
- Product analysis and assignment according to given legal requirements of various types (directives, type approval, CE, regulations, marking identifying the producer/supplier of the destination vehicle)
- Analysis of other legal requirements (e.g. GVO directives)
- Technical analysis regarding vehicles and their components
- Electrical and electronic analysis for automotive vehicles
- Carrying out activities related to the verification of the declaration of conformity of automotive parts with the standards and technical conditions
- Agreements with institutions authorised for certification of the technical conditions and selection of representative samples of the parts subject to certification
- Analysis of test results and completion of documents for the Certification Body
- Transfer of full documentation to the Certification Body on behalf of the customer
BOSMAL issues technical opinions on:

- Automotive spare parts of comparable quality to the original introduced for sale
Technical opinions cover the following range:
- Compatibility and interchangeability with OEM products
- The quality of the products delivered
- Mountability and functionality on the destination vehicle(s)
- The state of delivery of products to the commercial network
- Product picking
- Marking details
- Product testing in on-road tests
- Analysis and assessment of documentation provided by the manufacturer
- Readability of information for the customer contained in the operating and assembly instructions
Performance of analyses of the effectiveness of MSA measurement systems:
- Determining the repeatability and reproducibility ratio %GR&R
Opinions on innovativeness
BOSMAL is a research and development centre according to the definition from the Act of 30th May 2008 on certain forms of support for innovative activities (consolidated text from the Polish Legal Journal Dziennik Ustaw, 2015, item 1710, with later amendments), taking into account the provisions of the Act of April 30, 2010 – provisions introducing laws reforming the science system (Polish Legal Journal Dziennik Ustaw, No. 96, item 620, with later amendments).
In connection with the above, the Institute is able to offers in its scope of activities the elaboration of objective opinions on innovation for the needs of planned investments with the support of EU Operational Programs, based on the independent evaluations of our experts.
BOSMAL elaborates:
- opinions on product innovation,
- opinions on process innovation,
- opinions on technological innovations,
- opinions on non-technological innovations.
Root cause analysis (RCA) of non-conformances of components and subassemblies
As part of our services, we offer:
- Work in the field of first and second degree technical analysis; reasons for the occurrence of simple damage; functional defects and electrical/electronic defects
- Examination of damaged parts/subassemblies in the scope of the defects detected
- Preparation of reports on the fault analysis
- Meetings with suppliers regarding the introduction of remedial procedures following the technical analysis.
Verifications of the conformity of vehicle production with the producer’s requirements
Within our range of services we offer:
- Work in the range of confirmation of conformity of vehicle construction with the requirements of the manufacturer of the base vehicle
- Certification inspections for firms assembling vehicles, on the order of base vehicle manufacturers (for Fiat Professional and Iveco, among others)
- Opinions on the conformity of vehicle construction with the Handbook of vehicle adaptations and construction publication.
Trainings on type-approval regulations and requirements
The training is addressed to manufacturers and distributors of vehicles and trailers and their items of equipment or parts, as well as to car services, vehicle inspection stations, vehicle bodybuilders, companies involved in the modernization of installations in vehicles, tuning of vehicles or construction of “SAM” vehicles. .
Training consists of theoretical and practical parts during which the following issues, among others, shall be discussed:
- Issues
- approval (type of vehicle, system, component or technological unit)
- national individual vehicle approval
- individual vehicle approval
- EU individual vehicle approval
- Legal requirements to be met in order to go through the approval process
- Documents required for the approval process
- Stages of the approval process – approval tests, application for approval, issue of the type-approval certificate or amendment of the existing type-approval certificate
- The most important elements checked during control of the production conformity (Conformity of Production – COP)
- And the most frequently asked questions, which are the most serious problem for the clients ordering this type of tests and applying for type-approval certificate
- Participants shall have a chance to practice certain activities (filling up the forms).
During the second part of the training the presentation on the Institute shall be delivered – scope of activity, testing infrastructure.
Coffee breaks and dinner scheduled.
A certificate of training completion shall be issued to all participants.
Workshops
Workshops on emissions from materials
The workshops are addressed primarily to the manufacturers of plastic elements, who are obliged by the customers to test these characteristics in their products.
The workshop give its participants an opportunity to learn more about the theoretical and practical aspects of testing volatile substances emissions from materials, including the method of sampling for testing, test standards and methods as well as factors influencing the emissions.
BOSMAL is one of the leading laboratories providing services in scope of testing emissions from materials. The essential content of the workshops is outlined by the Materials Testing Department of BOSMAL Automotive Research and Development Institute.
Workshops on technical cleanliness in the industry
The workshops are addressed primarily to the employees of companies producing components in the cleanliness regime – production engineers, quality engineers, company laboratory employees – obliged by the technological process and requirements of manufactured products to comply with the cleanliness requirements and to test these parameters in their products as well as at the place of their production and / or storage or transportation.
The workshops give an opportunity to learn about the advanced methods of testing technical cleanliness.
The workshops consist of a theoretical part delivered in form of a lecture and a practical part which takes place in the laboratory of cleanliness testing and at the microscopic testing stand (quantitative and qualitative analysis of the washed out impurities).
