Expansion of the Centre of Competence for Development of Hybrid, Electric and Alternative Vehicular Powertrains

Project

Within the Regional Operation Programme of the Silesian Voivodship (RPOWSL) for the years 2014-2020, BOSMAL Automotive Research and Development Institute Ltd executed a project with the title “Expansion of the Centre of Competence for Development of Hybrid, Electric and Alternative Vehicular Powertrains”

Project goal

The project aims to extend existing research infrastructure, in terms of expanding the research possibilities of the Centre of Competence operating within the institute via the purchase of two dynamometer test benches for research activities on hybrid and electric powertrains for vehicles and machinery, as well as a vibration testing rig and a climatic chamber.

Planned outcomes

As a result of the project, the BOSMAL will increase its possibilities for developing a newer generation of environmentally-friendly and zero-emission vehicular propulsion systems – hybrid, electric and alternative types, as well as their components and accessories for applications in passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses and heavy goods vehicles, as well as for working machinery and non-road vehicles. The planned investment will not only allow for the implementation of new projects, but will also positively impact the usage efficiency of the existing resources at the Centre of Competence.

Total project value: 15,039,145.00 PLN
Grant value: 5,100,000.00 PLN

Regional Operational Programme of the Silesian Voivodeship for the years 2007-2013

Creation of a Centre of Competence for the development of vehicular powertrains

Project

“Creation of a Centre of Competence for the development of vehicular powertrains”

This project includes the implementation of a modern laboratory for the Centre of Competence, with the purpose of this infrastructure being to facilitate commercial research and development services for the transfer of technology and innovation from the sphere of science to the regional economy.
The established Centre of Competence at BOSMAL Automotive Research and Development Institute Ltd is a laboratory complex that meets demanding requirements related to standards for scientific and industrial research activities in the field of powertrain testing. The Centre is used for conducting research work.
Projects are carried out, with the company acting individually and in concert with other entities, consisting of research and development work and commercial orders, to solve significant technical problems for automotive companies (including on the fuel side), and to improve the competitiveness of the region’s economy and that of companies operating in the region.
The project was implemented in the form of 7 tasks, which are presented in the project schedule.

The Total project value amounts to 17 001 060 zł, of which:
eligible expenditure amounts to 13,720,000.00 zł;
ineligible expenditure amounts to 3,281,060.00 zł (inc. VAT)

The project was co-financed to a level of 40% of eligible costs.
BOSMAL’s own contribution amounted to 60% of eligible costs.

E-TRACT

Project

As part of the international program called “Horizon 2020″, the “ERA-NET” project and the competition called “ElectricMobility Europe Call 2016” (EMEurope Call 2016), BOSMAL Automotive Research and Development Institute Ltd participated in the co-implementation of the E-TRACT project, which aimed to develop an electric bus for transport of up to 20 people.

Project goal

The main objective of the E-TRACT project is to validate a fully mechanically integrated electric drive system as a universal solution for conversion of vehicles to electric, mainly for minibuses with up to 20 seats, as well as light commercial vehicles (1.5-4.2 t).

Planned outcomes

The result of the project will be to support the implementation of e-mobility (EM) in Europe by significantly improving the performance of e-buses, while reducing associated costs. This will allow for a wider uptake of electric vehicles, especially among public transport companies.
The project was carried out within a consortium.
